Mirassol were held 2-2 by Santos in the fifth round of the 2026 Campeonato Brasileiro, standout displays undermined by lapses that denied a win.

According to Globo.com, right-back Igor Formiga was the game’s outstanding performer, driving forward throughout and scoring his third goal in six matches, which makes him the team’s joint top scorer this year alongside Negueba.

Shaylon won a tight selection call in the creative role and vindicated it, heavily involved in both Mirassol goals and constantly supplying the front line. Only a superb save from Brazão prevented him finding the net with a spectacular effort.

Negueba returned after the interval with intent, threatened from range and struck with a low angled finish. Alesson set up the first Mirassol goal, while Nathan Fogaça’s movement knitted attacks together and he went close with a second-half header.

Walter was largely unworked before the break and looked secure under crosses, with no blame for either concession. Willian Machado blocked a goal-bound effort from Gabriel with his chest, then almost diverted into his own net. João Victor had been tidy but misjudged the ball for Gabriel’s strike.

Aldo Filho read danger well and aided the build-up. Neto Moura threatened from distance yet gave away a needless penalty that ultimately cost the victory.

After more than 20 days without a match, Rafael Guanaes’ side controlled long spells without structural changes, but individual errors and a lack of ruthlessness to kill the game proved costly. The head coach was sent off after the final whistle.
