Real Madrid’s win over Espanyol last night helped the team retain their position at the top of the league standings with a perfect 15 points after five games.

Kylian Mbappe and Eder Militao were the goal scorers on the night as Los Blancos relatively coasted to the win. It was, however, a special night for Jude Bellingham and Eduardo Camavinga who made their returns from injury.

Both players came on only for the final minutes and barely saw the ball, but their return now means that the manager can count on them in the coming days. For Bellingham, the return was only made sweeter by the fact that he significantly cut short his recovery period.

Taking to his Instagram after his return to the field last night, the English midfielder did not hold back in expressing how much the moment and the love from the fans meant to him.

“Missed this and all of you so much,” he began.

“Truly humbled by the love you gave me in the stadium today and the support from everyone throughout my recovery, it means the world to me. Now for more. Hala Madrid!,” he wrote.

It is no secret that Bellingham has been one of the Santiago Bernabeu’s most loved signings in recent times and that the player has attracted a massive local fan following for his dedication to the crest and his quality on the field.

With Bellingham back to full fitness now, Xabi Alonso has a positive selection dilemma in the attacking midfield role with the Englishman joining Arda Guler in competition for the starting position.

After all, Alonso made it clear in his recent press conference that he saw Bellingham as an attacking midfielder and not as a deep-lying playmaker as rumours suggested at the time of his arrival.
