Hamburg remain keen to sign Leeds United defender Sebastiaan Bornauw, but no medical has been scheduled for the centre-back and he ‘will be missing from the passenger list’ when the Bundesliga club leave on Friday.
The German side are ramping up preparations for the approaching Bundesliga season and having lost Luka Vuskovic following the end of his loan, want to add a new centre-back.
Bornauw is a favoured option given his substantial Bundesliga experience and place well down the defensive pecking order at Leeds.

The Whites are not expected to stand in his way if he wants to go and a move to Hamburg for the defender could well happen.
It does not appear to be imminent though as, according to German daily the Hamburger Morgen Post, no medical has been booked for Bornauw either on Thursday evening or on Friday.

Given that Hamburg are due to fly to France on Friday for a friendly against Toulouse, Bornauw ‘will be missing from the passenger list’.
Talks to land the defender from Leeds are considered to be open, with work to do, and potentially other clubs also showing interest.
Bornauw has had spells at 1.FC Koln and Wolfsburg in German football and is considered to be a reliable and proven centre-back.
While Leeds forked out around £5m to bring him to the Premier League, he has seen his game time severely limited, with Daniel Farke preferring other options.

Leeds have also brought in Bosnia defender Tarik Muharemovic this summer, while they are also working to land Borussia Monchengladbach defender Nico Elvedi.
If the Gladbach defender also arrives at Elland Road, the exit door is sure to be one Bornauw will need to take if he wants to play regularly this season.
Bornauw put pen to paper to a four-year contract when he signed for Leeds last summer and it is unclear how much the Whites want for him.
