Mo Salah says he feels like he has been “thrown under the bus” at Liverpool and says he no longer has a relationship with his manager Arne Slot.
The astonishing interview came after Salah was an unused substitute for Liverpool’s 3-3 draw with Leeds, with the Egyptian opening up on his frustrations with his current situation at the club.
“That I’m sitting on the bench for 90 minutes,” Salah replied when asked to clarify comments that he “couldn’t believe” what happened against Leeds.
“I think that’s the second time I’m on the bench (for 90 minutes). I think that’s the first time in my career.
“I’m very disappointed. I’ve done so much for this club over the years, especially last season. Sitting on the bench, I don’t know why.
“It seems like the club has thrown me under the bus. That’s how I feel it.
“It’s very clear that someone wants me to get all the blame. The club promised me a lot of promises in the summer but so far I’m on the bench for three games so I can’t say they keep their promises.
“I say before that I had a good relationship with the manager and all of a sudden we don’t have any relationship. I don’t know why.
“It seems to me that someone doesn’t want me in the club. But again, this club, I will always support, my kids will always support. I love the club so much and I will always do.”
Salah also suggested the game against Brighton, before he heads to the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), could be his last for Liverpool.
“I called my mum and dad and told them to come to the Brighton game,” he continued. “It doesn’t matter if I play or not, I’m going to enjoy it.
“We’ll see what’s going to happen but in my head I’m going to enjoy that game, if I play or not, on the bench or not. Probably I don’t know what’s going to happen now.
“It’s going to be at Anfield, to say goodbye to the fans when AFCON comes because I don’t know what’s going to happen when I’m there.
“In football you never know but I don’t accept the situation to be fair.”
