AS Monaco CEO Thiago Scuro has said that he “hopes” that Chelsea target Lamine Camara (22) will remain with the Principality club.

It was reported by Foot Mercato that talks between Monaco and Chelsea regarding the transfer of the Senegal international took place on Thursday. Those talks are expected to resume on Friday, Onze Mondial report. Les Monégasques may need to raise further funds in player sales before the closure of the transfer window on Tuesday. Folarin Balogun, the subject of interest from the Premier League, as well as Barcelona, is another who is susceptible to leaving.

Scuro on Balogun: ‘It is possible that he stays and possible that he leaves.’

Scuro admitted as much. “It is possible that he stays and possible that he leaves,” Monaco’s CEO told Canal Plus. The Brazilian also addressed the future of Camara during his interview. “We hope that he stays, but we have to make financial decisions […] but for Lamine we hope that he stays at Monaco for one more season,” said Scuro.

Camara featured for Monaco against Górnik Zabrze on Thursday night as the club secured its place in the UEFA Europa Conference League ‘League Phase’. Filipe Luís has frequently sung the midfielder’s praises, calling him a “special player”. He is keen to retain Camara. Monaco share that wish. Whether the Principality club are in a position to resist Chelsea’s advances is another question entirely.
