AS Monaco CEO Thiago Scuro says he hopes Chelsea target Lamine Camara, 22, will stay for one more season, while acknowledging financial decisions lie ahead.
"It is possible that he stays and possible that he leaves," he told Canal Plus when asked about Folarin Balogun.
"We hope that he stays, but we have to make financial decisions [...] but for Lamine we hope that he stays at Monaco for one more season," said Scuro.
Foot Mercato reports that Monaco and Chelsea held talks on Thursday regarding the Senegal international, with negotiations expected to resume on Friday, according to Onze Mondial.
Monaco may need to raise additional funds through sales before the window closes on Tuesday. Balogun is attracting interest from the Premier League as well as Barcelona and could depart.
Camara featured on Thursday night against Górnik Zabrze as Monaco secured a place in the UEFA Europa Conference League League Phase. Filipe Luís has repeatedly praised the midfielder as a 'special player' and is keen to retain him.
Whether Monaco can resist Chelsea’s advances remains to be seen.
