AS Monaco CEO Thiago Scuro said, "I am not happy with everything that we did during the summer and it wasn’t possible to execute our plan 100%."
"To be honest, no, I am not satisfied with our summer transfer window. If we had different timings to offload players, maybe we would have had a bit more time to sign others," he told RMC Sport’s Rothen S’enflamme.
At the start of the summer, Monaco made commitments to the DNCG on player sales. They tried to meet them until the final hours but fell short when USMNT international Folarin Balogun’s move to Everton collapsed. The planned sale not happening restricted recruitment elsewhere, and manager Filipe Luís has acknowledged an imbalance in the squad.
The squad now carries too many centre-forwards and lacks a recognised right-winger. Frosinone’s Fares Ghedjemis was targeted for that role, while Monaco also sought Erik Lira to bolster midfield.
Scuro also spoke of making "corrections" in the January transfer window.
