Thilo Kehrer has left AS Monaco to join Ajax Amsterdam on a season-long loan agreed on Wednesday. The deal is worth 2 million euros and contains no option to buy.

The move will ease Monaco’s wage bill, with his salary among the highest in the squad. L’Équipe estimates his pay at 290,000 euros gross per month.

Ajax are currently fourth in the Dutch league and will play in the Europa Conference League this season.

Blocked by Eric Dier and Sadibou Sané, the 29-year-old German will seek regular minutes in the Netherlands. He featured for just one minute at Le Havre on the opening Ligue 1 weekend, across Monaco’s first four official fixtures this season.

Only minor administrative details remained the previous morning before the move was finalised.
