Thilo Kehrer joins Ajax on season-long loan from Monaco | OneFootball

AS Monaco have loaned German defender Thilo Kehrer, 29, to Ajax Amsterdam. The clubs said on Wednesday that the deal is for one season.

Capped 28 times by Germany, Kehrer has slipped down the centre-back pecking order under new coach Filipe Luis, behind Eric Dier, Sadibou Sané and Christian Mawissa. The deal contains no option to buy.

Monaco, with whom he is contracted until 2028, also ease their wage bill, his salary estimated at €290,000 gross per month.

A day earlier, the proposed transfer of United States striker Folarin Balogun to Everton collapsed.

Kehrer becomes Ajax’s third Germany international signed this summer, after goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen, on loan from Barcelona, and midfielder Julian Brandt, who left Dortmund at the end of his contract. He will also link up again with former Monaco team-mate Caio Henrique, the Brazil left-back who moved at the start of the window.
