Monaco’s stadium renovation plans revealed

The Stade Louis II is already in the process of renovation. Any Manchester City or OGC Nice fans would have noted that the seats in half of the away stand were entirely missing, whilst there is also a large seatless section just to the left of where the ultras are housed.

These works are part of a renovation designed to modernise the facilities in the Stade Louis II, and also improve the aesthetic. For years, fans have called for the yellow seats to be replaced by red and white seats in order to match AS Monaco’s colours. The yellow seats had been ripped up without any mention of what would replace them.

However, the Monaco government, the owners of the Stade Louis II, announced in a meeting of the National Council on Tuesday that the new seating would be in the red and white of the Principality’s club, itself a reflection of the Monaco flag.

This round of work will be completed in 2027. The work will be done in sections so as to avoid a full stadium closure.
