Montilivi has become a happy hunting ground for Villarreal and head coach Marcelino García Toral, who visit Girona on Monday after the international break.
El Periódico Mediterráneo highlights the ground has consistently favoured him. Across four league trips with Valencia and Villarreal he has won every time, scoring six and conceding two.
His first success came in May 2018 with Valencia, a 1-0 decided by Luciano Vietto. The following season Valencia won 3-2, settled in the final minute by Ferran Torres after Roncaglia had been sent off.
Back at Villarreal, he prevailed 1-0 in 2024 thanks to Bertrand Traoré, in a match shaped by the dismissal of Kiko Femenía.
Last season brought another 1-0, Etta Eyong striking late to become an unlikely matchwinner. The result carried real weight in Villarreal’s push to clinch Champions League qualification, with a strong travelling support in the stands.
By any measure Montilivi has become one of Marcelino’s true talismans.
