The past week or so has been difficult for Real Madrid. With results having not gone their way, there was a string of rumours circulating that there was a growing dissent in the locker room against manager Xabi Alonso.
It was suggested that several heavyweights in the locker room were unhappy with the manager’s methods, with the list including players like Vinicius Jr. and Federico Valverde, among others.
However, following last night’s victory against Olympiacos in the UEFA Champions League, Valverde has taken to social media to put an end to rumours about the rift in the locker room.
The Real Madrid captain stressed how the Real Madrid squad was more united than ever amidst all the noise surrounding the team.
“After a week of many things being said, we are more united than ever. Having Vini and Mbappe is luck, but having the best team in the world committed is an honour,” he wrote.
Not stopping at that, Valverde also remarked how he has no problems with Alonso and that the manager has always been helping him to get back to his best.
“Personally I’m working on getting back to my best level. Mister has always been by my side, supporting and doing his best to continue to grow and help the team,” Valverde added.
“It’s not always easy, but the technical staff and players are more united than ever.”
A number of Real Madrid players liked and commented on the post made by the midfielder, with Vinicius being among them, as he wrote: “My captain.”
As reported earlier today, Alonso held a meeting with several Real Madrid players to help improve the situation and it has been seen as a major turning point.
