Morgan Gibbs-White has been omitted from Thomas Tuchel’s latest England squad despite an impressive start to the season with Nottingham Forest.

According to Goal.com, the decision sparked a response on social media, with his fiancée Britney De Villiers questioning the call in an Instagram post.

She highlighted a statistic claiming he is the only player to have created five or more chances in a single Premier League match this season. The 26-year-old has one goal and two assists in four appearances.

Tuchel explained on Friday that he wanted a specific profile in attacking midfield, choosing Jude Bellingham, Cole Palmer and Eberechi Eze as the three number 10 options, and said adding more would not help the balance.

He stressed the omission was about competition, not ability, praising Gibbs-White’s role in Forest’s survival last season and noting his strong current form.

The England manager also challenged those selected, including Chelsea’s Palmer, to back up selection with end product for the national side to keep their places.

England now face a Nations League triple-header against Spain, the Czech Republic and Croatia, a test of Tuchel’s selections. Gibbs-White, who missed the World Cup squad earlier this year, will turn back to Forest as he seeks a recall.
