Morocco: Tension between Walid Regragui and Mohamed Ouahbi?

Following Walid Regragui's resignation, the Moroccan national team has announced its new head coach: Mohamed Ouahbi.

In recent hours, a video has been making the rounds on social media, sparking controversy in Morocco. The footage allegedly shows Regragui flatly refusing to hand over the jersey or pose for a photo with Ouahbi during the latter's introductory press conference. However, this was not the case.

According to information from Foot Mercato, when Moroccan journalists began directing questions to Mohamed Ouahbi, Walid Regragui chose to give his successor the full spotlight. He wanted Ouahbi to fully enjoy his moment. The two coaches have great respect and appreciation for each other.

During his address, Mohamed Ouahbi made it a point to pay special tribute to his predecessor: "I thank Walid Regragui from the bottom of my heart. First, as a Moroccan, for everything you've made us experience. I also thank you as the U20 coach, over these four years, for your advice, your support, your closeness, even though you weren't obliged to offer it. And now, as the current senior national team coach, I thank you for the legacy you've left us."
