Musiala, Davies, and Co. – Eberl Provides an Update on Bayern’s Injured Players | OneFootball

While FC Bayern is on its Asian tour, several key players are working on their comebacks in Munich. Sporting Director Max Eberl has now revealed the current status of Jamal Musiala, Alphonso Davies, Serge Gnabry, and Lennart Karl—and is offering hope for their imminent return.

FC Bayern will be without several key players during its Audi Summer Tour in South Korea and Hong Kong. Jamal Musiala, Alphonso Davies, Serge Gnabry, and Lennart Karl remained in Munich to work individually on their comebacks following their injuries.

On the sidelines of the team’s stay in Jeju, South Korea, sporting director Max Eberl has now provided an update on the quartet’s condition. According to him, nearly all of the players are making good progress.

Only Gnabry still needs more time

Eberl was particularly optimistic about Alphonso Davies and Jamal Musiala. “Phonzy will be back in action; Jamal will hopefully be another week away—he’s already very, very close,” explained the Bayern boss.

The return of promising young talent Lennart Karl also seems to be just around the corner: “Lennart should be ready to go again,” said Eberl.

For Serge Gnabry, however, it will apparently take a little longer: “Serge will be the only one for whom it takes a bit longer,” revealed the sporting director.

In addition to the injured players, the national team players—who were granted special leave following the World Cup—will also gradually rejoin the squad in the coming days.

Eberl is therefore optimistic about the start of competitive play: “The others are coming back from their well-deserved vacation time. So it’s definitely the case that, hopefully, a very, very large portion of the team will be ready again by the time the Super Cup rolls around.”



This is important news for Vincent Kompany. After returning from Asia, there’s little time left before the Super Cup, but the Bayern coach could still have a nearly full squad at his disposal by then. The latest updates on Musiala and Davies, in particular, offer hope that both will resume team training soon and be available for the record champions at the start of the season.
