Ismael Saibari has officially joined FC Bayern. The 25-year-old was introduced as a new signing for the German record champions during a press conference held today, Friday, at Säbener Straße. During the event, the attacking player spoke, among other things, about his preferred position.
Following his 50-million transfer to FC Bayern Munich, Ismael Saibari was officially introduced today, Friday. In addition to Saibari’s fitness following the muscle tear he sustained during the World Cup, his position was also a topic of great interest.
Saibari arrives in Munich determined to quickly integrate into Vincent Kompany’s team. Saibari describes the reasons for his move as follows: “Bayern is one of the biggest clubs in the world. The style of play also suits me. They’ve given me the confidence that I can develop here as a player and as a person.”
The Moroccan is versatile on offense and can play both in the center and on the wings. Unsurprisingly, Saibari was asked about his favorite position during his introduction.
His answer was unequivocal: “My favorite position is the number 10; everyone knows that,” explained the new signing.
At the same time, Saibari made it clear that he’s versatile: “But I can play in different positions—you’re always switching around during the game anyway. I can also play on the wing and a bit deeper,” added the 25-year-old.
This should make Saibari particularly interesting to Kompany. The Moroccan could see action at the ten, on the wings, and as a backup for Kane up front. He already played as the lone striker for Morocco at the World Cup and scored three goals.

Exactly what role Saibari is expected to play in Kompany’s system hasn’t been decided yet: “I haven’t discussed it in detail with the coach yet. I’ve been focusing on my injury and my comeback. We’ll certainly talk about it soon,” Saibari explained.
What is certain, however, is that Saibari prefers to play in central attacking midfield. This could put him in direct competition with Jamal Musiala. The German national team player has been considered one of the record champions’ most important options at this position for years.
Recently, however, Musiala has struggled to regain his former form after his long injury layoff. With Saibari, the squad now has another option who will compete with Musiala for playing time.
