MW23 RSL Fantasy Scouting Session: Picks to consider to rack up points!

Even though last time out Julian Quinones failed to hit five points for the first round since Roshn Saudi League Matchweek 11, the golden boot-chasing Al Qadsiah hotshot still reached a major milestone: surpassing 200 RSL Fantasy points.

In doing so, Quinones became the first player this season to move into a second century of points accrued.

The following day, Al Ahli’s Ivan Toney followed suit, delivering a standout performance against Al Shabab. The 2025-26 RSL’s top scorer, Toney provided an assist, won a penalty and converted in the 5-2 victory. Thus, his 13-point haul took him past the 200 mark, too.

With that in mind, here’s our recommendations for Matchweek 23, laid out nicely in a first XI, all while sticking to a budget of SAR 80 million.

--------

Goalkeeper

Edouard Mendy - Al Ahli (5.6 million)

Selected by 23 percent of managers, the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations winner faces bottom club Al Najmah. Only Morocco’s Yassine Bono has a higher ownership percentage when it comes to goalkeepers, but the Al Hilal stopper faces a tougher challenge against Youssef En Nesyri and Al Ittihad.

Mendy currently leads the league with nine clean sheets, making him a reliable Fantasy option.

--------

Ali Majrashi - Al Ahli (5.3m)

Teammate Majrashi benefits from that defensive strength exhibited by Matthias Jaissle’s title chasers. Al Ahli have conceded only 14 goals this season - four fewer than their closest challengers - making their defenders valuable Fantasy assets.

Right-back Majrashi, integral in that historic AFC Champions League Elite glory, offers much going forward, too.

Mohamed Simakan - Al Nassr (5.7m)

The French centre-back has this season added an attacking edge to his defensive duties, scoring his first goal of the campaign in Matchweek 19. Jorge Jesus’ second-placed side are on an impressive run of five consecutive clean sheets in the RSL and host Al Hazem looking to extend that - and their title challenge.

Mohamed Simakan celebrates Al Nassr's clean sheet at Al Fateh - their fifth RSL shutout in a row

Mohammed Abu Al Shamat - Al Qadsiah (6.3m)

The RSL Fantasy’s top-scoring defender (154 points) missed the previous round due to fitness concerns, but is expected to return against an Al Kholood struggling for consistency. With a 27.7% selection rate, Abu Al Shamat is the third-most-selected defender in the game - and justifiably so.

--------

Midfield

Julian Quinones - Al Qadsiah (10.4m)

The mighty Mexican’s remarkable 10-round scoring streak ended after he blanked last time out against NEOM Sports Club. However, it should prove only a minor dip in what has been an outstanding season, highlighted by his 200-point milestone. Next up? Second-from-bottom Al Okhdood.

Angelo Fulgini - Al Taawoun (6.1m)

The French-born attacker is enjoying his debut campaign in the Kingdom, where his performances place him among the top three players at Al Taawoun, with a total of 111 points. Pericles Chamusca’s men, once challenging at the top of the table, host Al Fayha.

Mohammed Kanno - Al Hilal (5.8m)

One of the stars of Matchweek 22, with 16 points, the Saudi midfielder hasn't missed an opportunity this season. Manager Simone Inzaghi is expected once more to rely on Kanno despite the difficulty of the typically high-stakes Saudi Clasico with Al Ittihad. His rich vein of form suggests he can again make an impact.

Yannick Carrasco - Al Shabab (7.2m)

The league’s most skilful dribbler (50 successful dribbles), the Al Shabab stalwart made the All-Star Team last round despite his side’s heavy defeat to Al Ahli.

Carrasco remains a dependable pick even during tough stretches and, with a trip to relegation-threatened Damac in their first match with manager Noureddine Ben Zekri, the Belgian will be out to make his mark.

Abdulaziz Al Elewa - Al Kholoud (4.6m)

Winner already of two RSL Young Player of the Month awards, the hugely promising Saudi Arabian has outperformed several high-profile counterparts this season. Despite this, Al Elewa’s selection rate remains only 1.4%, making Al Elewa a strong differential pick as his side host Al Riyadh in what feels must-win.

Attack

Cristiano Ronaldo - Al Nassr (14.0m)

After missing two RSL matches on the bounce, the two-time golden boot winner returned in style in Matchweek 22, racking up an 18th goal of the campaign - and 12 Fantasy points.

The most expensive player in Saudi Fantasy history, Al Nassr superstar Ronaldo is selected by 36% of managers and, for sure, remains a premium captain option.

Ivan Toney - Al Ahli (11.1m)

The 2025-26 RSL’s leading scorer with 20 goals is out in front in Fantasy also, with a mammoth 212 points. Therefore, Toney is the perfect way to round off this week’s line-up, especially with dead-last Al Najmah visiting Jeddah. Toney also tops the league in All-Star Team appearances across the past seven rounds.

And there you have it. Matchweek 23 presents a mix of safe picks and high-impact differentials, defensive solidity from Al Ahli and Al Nassr, but combined with elite attacking threats such Toney and Ronaldo. As ever, happy managing!
