Indian Super League (ISL) club, FC Goa's new head coach, Carlos Pena has reiterated that his main aim will be to build a strong team as they head into the ISL next season and that he will look to make the players better.

Pena's appointment means that he now returns to the club two years after finishing a trophy-laden spell as a player with the club. The 38-year-old might not have the vast experience when compared to other managers in the league, what goes is in his favour is that he does have experience of participating in the league as a player.

"We have to build a new relationship. We have fought together as teammates and now we will fight again. I am in a new role as coach, and they are in the same role as players. That should not be a problem. In fact, I have an advantage since I know them. I know their potential, what they are capable of, and how they react inside the dressing room. My goal is to make the players better," Pena said when asked about his goals for the team.

The Spaniard also opened up on the biggest influences on his playing career, taking the names of some legendary managers who he has played under during his career as a player.

"It won’t be fair if I take just one name. There have been great coaches like Louis van Gaal, Frank Rijkaard, and Rubi. I have had many coaches and I have learned many things from all of them," the 38-year-old added.
