Midfielder has previously said he wants a legacy at Arsenal

Myles Lewis-Skelly has already issued his verdict on an Arsenal exit, amid a potential transfer battle for his signature with Chelsea and Manchester United.

The 19-year-old’s future at the Emirates Stadium has been thrown into doubt with Chelsea among one of several clubs to have been offered the chance to sign him this summer.

Standard Sport understands that Man United have also been approached by intermediaries offering them the chance to bolster their midfield, though it’s the Blues who are believed to have made enquiries with Arsenal about the situation.

This is despite Lewis-Skelly being primed to play a key role for Arsenal at the start the new season, given Declan Rice and Martin Zubimendi have only just started their pre-season after an extended post-World Cup holiday.

However, it has since been reported by the Athletic that Lewis-Skelly wants to stay at Arsenal and is fully focused on establishing himself in Mikel Arteta’s first-team plans for the upcoming season.

Amid talk that the young midfielder is happy in north London and is not exploring a move, this stance will come as no surprise to Gunners supporters - if his words after signing a new contract just last summer are anything to go by.

“I’m so proud and happy. I know those words are simple, but I think they sum up how I feel signing for this club,” he told the club’s official website. “I’m a fan and it’s like a dream come true.

“I've embodied the values of Hale End and come through. I've still got a lot of years ahead of me, so if I can keep staying humble and being a good person, that's the most important thing to me.

“I know I've taken a lot of experience from the games about the positive moments, the mistakes that I've made. I'm definitely more ready now for the next season. I just want to keep learning and keep improving.

“I want a legacy. I want to win everything there is to win in the game. I want to win trophies on the biggest stages whilst being a person that's always learning and stays grounded, which is so important.”
