Bild claims that the German Football Association has offered Julian Nagelsmann the option to resign following Germany’s World Cup exit, leaving his position under serious threat.

Germany were beaten by Paraguay on Monday in the round of 32, an embarrassing result that triggered behind-the-scenes discussions over the head coach’s future.

A three-hour meeting was held on Thursday between Nagelsmann and DFB chiefs Bernd Neuendorf, Hans-Joachim Watzke, Rudi Völler and Andreas Rettig.

The offer arrives two years before his contract is due to expire and has been framed as a way for him to depart with his head held high.

Nagelsmann has been given time to reflect, and the situation is expected to be resolved early next week at the latest. Jürgen Klopp is still viewed as the preferred successor.
