Barring a late twist, Abakar Sylla is unlikely to join Nantes, with talks over a six-month loan now over.
According to L'Équipe, Nantes had targeted the Strasbourg centre-back, 22 and under contract until 2028, to reinforce their back line, and will now explore other options.

Nantes had also looked at Deiver Machado and Rémy Cabella before turning to Sylla as a defensive option.
Sylla joined Strasbourg in summer 2023 from Club Brugge in a deal worth €20m including bonuses.
He has had fitness issues and has not played since the summer, having made 43 Ligue 1 appearances and scored three goals.
