Nantes number two goalkeeper Alexis Mirbach suffers knee meniscus injury, club to recruit | OneFootball

Alexis Mirbach, 21, Nantes’ number two goalkeeper, sustained a serious meniscus injury to a knee in training on Thursday. Head coach Grégory Poirier faces further selection issues before they host Nancy at 20:45 on Monday in Ligue 2. Nantes will recruit a goalkeeper.

He underwent an MRI on Saturday and surgery is being considered, according to Ouest-France. The length of his absence is unknown.

Nantes are bottom of Ligue 2 after a dreadful start, three defeats in four, and have already changed head coach. First-choice Maxime Dupé has not convinced since the campaign began. Mirbach joined from Metz in summer 2025 and is under contract until 2030.

The club have lost three goalkeepers, Alban Lafont to Amedspor in Türkiye, Anthony Lopes to Angers, and Patrik Carlgren after his deal expired. With only Maxime Dupé available, 18-year-old Yanel Zézé has trained well but a professional squad is expected to carry three keepers. Nantes can sign a joker in France or a free agent.

For that match, Poirier will be without Fabien Centonze and Killian Corredor, who injured his right thigh against Rodez in a 2-5 defeat on matchday three. Corredor may not return until after the break. Centre-back Sekou Doucouré and forward Ignatius Ganago are back after missing last Saturday’s 3-3 draw with Guingamp.
