Kevin De Bruyne returns after lengthy injury layoff

According to multiple Italian outlets, including La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Belgian international took part in team training on Monday at the Castel Volturno training center alongside his Napoli teammates.

De Bruyne suffered his injury on October 25 during Napoli’s clash with Inter Milan. He was diagnosed with a high-grade hamstring tear in his right thigh—a similar injury to the one that required surgery in August 2023 and kept him off the pitch for nearly five months.

The former Manchester City star’s comeback comes at a pivotal moment in the season, with the Italian side pushing to secure Champions League qualification.

Now 34, Kevin De Bruyne has featured in 11 matches for Napoli across all competitions this season, scoring 4 goals and providing 2 assists.

It’s worth noting that the southern Italian club currently sits third in the Serie A standings with 53 points, trailing AC Milan (57 points), while Inter Milan lead the league on 67 points.
