Pedro Neto has described one of his Chelsea team mates as ‘outstanding’ after his display versus Burnley yesterday.

The Blues had to travel north for the lunchtime kick off in the Premier League yesterday, and they returned to London with all three points, winning the game 2-0.

But Chelsea had to fight for it and the second goal only came late in the game to finish things off. It was a game where they had to battle for everything and got tested physically but a committed side.

Pedro Neto actually bagged the crucial first goal for Chelsea, but it was his midfield team mate Andrey Santos who has been receiving all the plaudits after the game.

Santos was class, and former Chelsea player Joe Cole was waxing lyrical about him after the game on TNT Sports with some well deserved praise.

Maresca says that he asked Santos basically to do the Moises Caicedo role yesterday as he was rested, and Santos certainly stepped up to the task.

Neto joined Cole and others in offering some real praise for the performance of Santos yesterday.

“Andrey Santos was unbelievable, we need this type of performance when there are lots of battles.

“It’s always good to come back from the break with a win, we are looking forward to the big games.”

Santos’ next fight

Now the young midfielder’s next fight is to battle for a more regular starting role in a Chelsea shirt, but he has the problem of having Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez ahead of him.

There are plenty of games coming up though and there will be lots of opportunity for minutes for Santos, and it also means we can rest Caicedo a bit more if needs must.
