Neil Lennon has delivered a damning assessment of Celtic’s derby defeat after claiming his former side were “absolutely battered” and “outworked” by Rangers at Parkhead.

Martin O’Neill’s side suffered a 1-0 defeat in front of a home-only crowd, with Ryan Naderi’s first-half goal enough to secure all three points for the visitors.

Celtic struggled to build any sustained momentum and registered just one effort on target, with frustration growing around Parkhead as the game progressed.
Former Hoops manager Lennon felt Rangers were superior both physically and technically, and was particularly critical of Celtic being outworked by their rivals.
“We can’t argue with anything here. Kris (Boyd) called it and the boys in commentary called it, Rangers were the far superior team,” Lennon said during commentary duties for Sky Sports.
“Not just in physical attributes and running, but they played all the football.
“I thought Celtic were a lot better than they had been in the first half, without being brilliant. Second half was totally disjointed, totally outplayed, outworked – which is something that is the worst thing that you can label a team.
“No quality, no thought. Hope rather than expectation with the way they’re playing. Absolutely battered today.”
