The MLS is on a quick stop due to the World Cup, but the news doesn’t stop. Recently, we found out that Austin FC is signing Jim Curtin for the 2027 season. Also, Kamal Miller could be called to the CanMNT 26-man World Cup roster.
Nevertheless, the transfer window is open to Major League Soccer, and teams are aware of this. That’s why some clubs are extending players’ contracts to ensure they continue after the international competition.
This time, the New England Revolution is the team that made the move to extend its star defender to a multi-year contract.
The 25-year-old left back extended his contract with the Revs through the 2029-30 MLS season. Meaning he Sand will be at New England for a long time, or until the team receives a good offer for him.
Through the official website of the Revs, Sporting Director Curt Onalfo was thrilled to announce Sand’s extension, making his growth with the team a key point.
“We are thrilled to extend Will Sands and keep him in New England for several more seasons,” adding, “Will has grown tremendously as a player and teammate since joining us two years ago. He is in excellent form right now, and we believe his best years are still ahead."
Head coach Marko Mitrovis added to what Onalfo said: “I am happy for Will because he is incredibly deserving of this contract extension, and equally happy for our club that we can keep a talented player and exceptional person like Will in New England for years to come.”
Adding, “Coaching Will is a pleasure, and we are looking forward to helping him progress even more on the field in the years ahead."
Since arriving in New England in 2024, Will Sands has played 41 games, scoring one goal and delivering three assists.
In the current season, the New England Revolution sits fourth in the Eastern Conference, and when the league is back, the Revs will play two straight home games.
