New name emerged! Bayern have the next England star on their list

FC Bayern are continuing to plan their squad for next summer and have apparently set their sights on an old acquaintance from the Bundesliga

FC Bayern’s scouts appear to be particularly active in the English Premier League at the moment, with another attacker from the island on their radar alongside Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon

According to the English newspaper The Independent, Munich are looking at Brian Brobbey from AFC Sunderland. The Dutchman could take on the role of backup for Harry Kane at the record champions

The situation is clear: with the likely departure of on-loan striker Nicolas Jackson, there is a gap behind Kane in attack. The Senegalese is unlikely to stay in Munich beyond the summer, forcing Bayern to look for a new alternative on the transfer market

Brobbey as Kane’s backup – does the profile fit?

Brobbey is no stranger to the Bundesliga. The 24-year-old has already played for RB Leipzig and made a name for himself thanks to his physicality and assertiveness. His power in the penalty area and his dynamism make him an interesting profile for the Bundesliga

But this is where the first question mark arises: the attacker would clearly be a backup behind Kane, and it is precisely for this role that the question arises as to whether Brobbey is the right – and above all economically sensible – solution

According to the report, Bayern would have to put around 50 million euros on the table for the striker – a sum that is not unusual in the current transfer market, but is a clear announcement for a supplementary player

Form and price speak against a deal

The Dutchman’s sporting development is another factor. Brobbey only moved from Ajax Amsterdam to Sunderland for just over €20 million before the season, but has so far failed to make a lasting impression there. In 25 Premier League games, he has just six goals and one assist to his name – not figures that necessarily speak in favour of a top club like FC Bayern

In view of the high demands at Säbener Straße, a potential transfer therefore seems risky. Bayern need a reliable option behind Kane who can deliver immediately in case of doubt – and does not have to be built up first

Bayern are likely to prefer other solutions

Against this backdrop, it seems rather unlikely that FC Bayern will actually get serious about Brobbey. Instead, there is much to suggest that the Munich club will continue to sound out the market and look for a more cost-effective solution

Models such as a loan with an option to buy – similar to the recent move for Nicolas Jackson – or a younger prospect who can develop behind Kane are conceivable

One thing is also clear: Bayern also have a need in other positions, including on the wings, where Gordon is considered an absolute dream player. However, the Englishman costs almost 60 million euros.
