New Tottenham signing James Wilson has been named on bench for the first time against Arsenal in the north London derby.
The 18-year-old striker joined Spurs on loan from Hearts in January after also having talks with Arsenal.
Wilson scored his first goal in a Spurs shirt when he found the net for their Under-21s against Norwich this week and was included on the bench against Arsenal after impressing Igor Tudor.
He has trained with the first-team this week and has been drafted into the squad amid the injury crisis at Spurs.
After his goal for Spurs Under-21s this week, their coach Wayne Burnett said that Wilson is a player “we know can score goals”.
Burnett said: “James has worked very hard. He’s a player that we know can score goals and he took his goal very well.
“He’s still getting up to speed but we’ve been really pleased with him. He’s a top individual, he’s a very good footballer and I think he’s going to score goals. He wants to get in the frame of the goal and, as I said, he took his goal very well.”
Wilson is among a number of academy players on the bench against Arsenal, with Spurs struggling with injuries.
Callum Olusesi, Luca Williams-Barnett and James Rowswell are also among the Spurs substitutes.
