Aiden Jarvis, an 18-year-old midfielder, is the newest addition to the first team of the New York Red Bulls. After impressing with the reserve team, the young player signed a contract until 2028, with an option for 2029. The task now is to prove that he is good enough to be a valuable part of the team's MLS set-up.
Jarvis' path to the first team has been built on consistency and ongoing development. Playing for New York Red Bulls II, he appeared in 35 matches and made his mark by scoring a goal in the US Open Cup. His performances didn't go unnoticed, and he was rewarded with a well-deserved upgrade.
The head of sport at the club, Jochen Schneider, praised the midfielder's development and the confidence the club has in his skills.
“Aiden performed very well with New York Red Bulls II and showed great progress during this year’s preseason. We’re very happy to add him to our roster and thrilled to have promoted another homegrown player to our first team.”
In addition to his club performances, Jarvis has shone on the international stage as well. Representing Antigua and Barbuda in the 2024 Concacaf U-20 Championship, he was captain of the side and also scored. His international career began two years earlier when he debuted in the same competition at the U-20 level.
This background of playing at a high level adds a dimension of maturity to his profile and might help him adapt sooner to Major League Soccer and give him an edge in the team.
The midfielder comes at a good moment for the club, who have been looking for some fresh alternatives in the playmaking position. His development in the first team will depend on how successfully and how quickly he gets acclimatized to the high tempo of the MLS and to the tactical demands of his manager.
After inking a long-term contract and with a solid track record, Jarvis has a real opportunity to cement his spot on the team and become a key player in the future of the New York Red Bulls.
