Newcastle United head coach Matthias Jaissle has confirmed that Tino Livramento will not be ready to play against Liverpool on Sunday.

Jaissle confirmed that “it’s for sure too early” on Livramento, as he works his way back to fitness after a hamstring injury.

”He had just one training where he was partially involved, so we need to be smart with his progress now,” Jaissle said.

“He has a huge potential, I love him, and we can’t wait to have him back. But we need to wait until he’s 100 per cent ready.”

News of Livramento’s return to training is, however, a big boost for the Magpies, after an injury ridden campaign last season.

With Livramento unavailable, new signing Amar Dedic is in line to start against Liverpool.

Jaissle described the Bosnian right back as “a perfect fit” to Newcastle’s squad given his versatility.

“He can play both full-back positions,” Jaissle said.

“Even as a youth [player] he played also a couple of times centre-back. He’s versatile in his approach.

“He knows the playing style due to our time together in Salzburg, which is always beneficial, especially when you don’t have too much time to train.”

Dedic arrived on Tyneside earlier this week for a reported fee of close to £30million. His signing was one that Newcastle desperately needed following the injury to Livramento, and departure of Kieran Trippier.

Now, he is likely to be thrown straight in at the deep end, as Newcastle welcome Andoni Iraola’s Liverpool to St. James’ Park on Sunday.

Ahead of the match, Jaissle was optimistic, and called on supporters inside the stadium to give their all on what will be an emotional day.

A pre-match tribute to Kevin Keegan has been planned by both home and away fans.
