Newcastle United are set to sign Brentford striker Yoane Wissa in a deal worth £55 million, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The move comes as Alexander Isak edges closer to completing a transfer to Liverpool.
Wissa has played a central role for Brentford in recent seasons. He built a strong strike partnership with Bryan Mbeumo, who completed a transfer to Manchester United earlier this summer.
The 28-year-old enjoyed his best season in English football last term, bagging 20 goals and five assists across all competitions.
Since joining Brentford from French club Lorient in 2021, Wissa has established himself as a reliable forward.
According to The Athletic, the transfer agreement includes a 25 percent sell-on clause for Brentford.
The striker issued a personal statement before Brentford finally agreed to release him.
The club had initially resisted the idea of selling him, but Wissa was determined to push through the move.
The Congolese international will now look to continue his fine form.
Manager Eddie Howe views him as a player who can immediately boost Newcastle’s attacking options and bring goals to the team.
Newcastle have also sealed the arrival of striker Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart, underlining their determination to build a stronger squad.
The Magpies will be hoping Wissa replicates his Brentford output as they aim to push further up the Premier League table this season.
