Newcastle confirm Matthias Jaissle as head coach before Valencia Trofeu Taronja visit | OneFootball

Newcastle United have appointed German coach Matthias Jaissle after Eddie Howe’s resignation, the club confirmed, a week before facing Valencia CF in the 54th Trofeu Taronja.

The 38-year-old is due to take charge for the first time on Saturday 8 August at 21:00 at Camp de Mestalla, one of the final pre-season fixtures for both sides.

Jaissle arrives at St James’ Park after successful stints with Red Bull Salzburg and Al-Ahli. In Austria he won a league and cup double and guided the club to the Champions League last 16 for the first time.

In Saudi Arabia he won two consecutive AFC Champions League titles.
