Newcastle United left-back Lewis Hall has been bogged down by injuries over the past year, but there is light at the end of the tunnel for the defender and the Geordies.

Newcastle are reportedly hoping to have him back soon, with Craig Hope claiming he could feature before the November international break.

The Magpies have been without Hall since the beginning of October. He last featured for the Toons in the 1-0 Champions League win over Union Saint-Gilloise.

Since then, manager Eddie Howe has stuck Dan Burn at left-back. The big defender has his outstanding qualities, but he does not bring Hall’s attacking verve down the flank.

Hall is an electric force down the left, and the Magpies have surely missed his attacking thrust.

Unfortunately for Howe, he will have to navigate as many as seven games before that break on November 9.

The games come thick and fast, but Hall could make the bench and possibly get some game time versus Brentford on the ninth before the break.

Hope also touched on Yoane Wissa’s injury situation, which will come as a massive relief to Newcastle fans who feared the worst.

The confirmation that Wissa’s injury is to his posterior cruciate ligament, not the ACL, means his absence won’t stretch into next year.

The forward will still need time to manage the swelling and rebuild sharpness. However, “he remains on track for a November return” if his recovery continues to progress.

That would be a significant boost for Howe.

The Congolese international’s pace, movement and work rate could bring a new dimension to the Magpies’ forward line once he’s up to speed.

Like Hall, he’s targeting that Brentford fixture on November 9 as a potential comeback, a fitting return against his former club and a timely lift before the international break.
