Newcastle United face a potential setback before Monday’s visit to Leeds United, with right-back Amar Dedic a doubt after a suspected hamstring problem suffered in the midweek Carabao Cup win at Millwall.

“I treat these things really confidentially. I hope my staff too, that nothing comes out. Because first of all, it's about the player and it's about his health. But what I said already after Millwall, it doesn't look too serious,” he told Newcastle World.

Dedic, a £30m summer signing from Benfica, has three assists this season. If he misses out, Tino Livramento could make his first start of the campaign, with Lewis Miley another option at right-back.

Dan Burn is sidelined with an ankle ligament problem, while goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen, midfielder Joelinton and striker William Osula remain out with ankle, thigh and foot issues.

Deadline-day arrival Matias Fernandez-Pardo, a £51m signing, is yet to start, and Jaissle said he is closer after his first full training week, with a decision possible on Sunday or even Monday.

The head coach expects a difficult assignment at Elland Road and stressed his side must match the intensity to give themselves a chance of a positive result.
