Borussia Dortmund could soon be forced into a decision on Felix Nmecha as heavyweight interest grows. Sky Germany reports that Newcastle United are preparing a move and are willing to meet the Bundesliga club’s reported €120 million valuation.

Newcastle have generated significant funds this summer. Tottenham paid €108 million for Sandro Tonali, Anthony Gordon joined Barcelona for €80 million and Bruno Guimarães is expected to complete an €87 million switch to Arsenal.

With Guimarães seemingly on his way out, Newcastle have identified Nmecha as the preferred replacement and are poised to test Dortmund’s stance.

Earlier in the window, sporting director Nils Ole Book told Ruhr Nachrichten he regarded a sale as extremely unlikely. He said astronomical sums can always be discussed in theory, but he could largely rule out Nmecha leaving this summer.

Should Newcastle match the valuation, Dortmund may have to choose between banking a nine-figure fee now or keeping a key player. He has a contractually agreed €80 million release clause that could become active next summer.
