FC Bayern could soon finalize its next major contract extension. Talks with Harry Kane are apparently in the home stretch. After that, however, CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen will immediately face his next big task: ensuring that Michael Olise stays in Munich long-term.

According to information from the Abendzeitung München, an agreement with Kane is in sight. The 33-year-old’s current contract runs through 2027. Most recently, the main point of discussion has been whether the new contract should run through 2029 or 2030. A contract through 2029, including an option for an additional year, is now a possibility.

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge recently expressed optimism. “Harry’s brother and his father are currently negotiating with Jan-Christian Dreesen,” the Bayern supervisory board member told the AZ. “I’m optimistic that they’ll find a good solution.”

Kane negotiations are nearing completion

For Rummenigge, the fact that Bayern wants to sign Kane to a long-term deal despite his age is not a contradiction. “In the past, I would have said: With players over 30, you should generally only offer one-year contracts. But there are exceptions when you’re convinced of a player’s quality. And that’s the case with Harry. Let’s not forget: He’s only been injured once in three years.”

According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, special contract clauses could also play a role in the extension. Reportedly, Kane is set to receive an exit clause that would allow him to return to the Premier League in the future.

In addition, Tottenham Hotspur is said to have a so-called “matching right.” Should Bayern accept an offer from another club for Kane in the future, the Spurs could then match that offer on identical terms.

On the Munich side, Dreesen is primarily leading the negotiations. “We’re having good talks,” the Bayern boss said recently during the record champion’s visit to Oktoberfest. Kane will take some time during the international break, “and then things should slowly come to a close.”

After Kane, Bayern is also said to be pursuing Olise

Once the Kane extension is finalized, Dreesen’s next major contract mission is likely to be Michael Olise. Although the Frenchman is under contract until 2029, his performances have long since established him as one of the record champions’ most important players.

Rummenigge made it clear that Bayern wants to keep the 24-year-old long-term. “At some point, we’ll have to talk to him and make him an appropriate offer,” said the 71-year-old.

His appreciation for the Frenchman is immense: “He’s outstanding in his position. There are two top players there: him and Lamine Yamal. Olise’s game is even more mature right now.”

According to information from the AZ, no concrete contract negotiations have taken place yet between Bayern and Olise’s camp. That could change in the coming weeks, however.

If he signs an early contract extension, Olise is likely to join the very top tier of the Munich squad in terms of pay. The AZ cites the salary range of Kane and Jamal Musiala, who, according to the report, each earn around 25 million euros per year.

A potential sticking point could be a buyout clause. According to “Sport Bild,” Olise wants such an option included in a new contract. Given the reported interest from European heavyweights like Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain, this very point is likely to play a key role in any negotiations.

Bayern is not under any immediate time pressure yet, as Olise’s contract runs through 2029. But one thing is clear: Following Kane, Olise is also expected to become the face of FC Bayern for the long term. For Dreesen, this could mean the next major round of negotiations could begin very soon.
