Neymar was mobbed by players and supporters in Buenos Aires, as Santos face San Lorenzo on Tuesday, 28, at 19:00 at the Nuevo Gasómetro in the Copa Sudamericana third round, according to Diario Do Peixe.

The excitement has followed him since landing, from fans to the local media.

Boca Juniors midfielder Ander Herrera, a PSG team-mate from 2019 to 2022, swapped shirts and autographs with him, while River Plate’s Giuliano Galoppo received a signed shirt and posed for a photo. Galoppo played for São Paulo from 2022 to 2025 and nearly joined Santos last year.

Santos TV also introduced a boy named Sebastian Neymar to his idol, arranging a photo and autograph. The club planned for the trip and even rested the player from the weekend Brasileirão fixture.

With Neymar keen to play for Brazil at the next World Cup, which could be his last, the club has been lobbying for his call-up, even sending his No 10 shirt to Messi and his children. Club marketing is fuelling the international push.

After an arthroscopy in December, he returned in mid-February and has four goals and three assists in 10 games. His contract with Santos runs to the end of the year.
