Santos register Caballero and João Paulo for Copa Sudamericana | OneFootball

According to Diario Do Peixe, Santos have updated their Copa Sudamericana squad, adding goalkeeper João Paulo and forward Gustavo Caballero. The pair are now available to Cuca for the remainder of the competition.

João Paulo and Caballero had already featured in matchday squads in the Campeonato Brasileiro and Copa do Brasil. They did not take part in the Sudamericana play-offs against Universidad Central.

Both returned from loans after the initial registration deadline for the previous phase. A new amendment window has allowed their inclusion.

Before that, Santos host Athletico-PR on Sunday at 18:30 at Vila Belmiro in the 22nd round of the Campeonato Brasileiro.

Santos then face Macará of Ecuador in the round of 16. The first leg is on Thursday at 19:00 Brasília time at Vila Belmiro, with the return on 20 August at 19:00 at the Bellavista stadium in Ambato.

Zé Ivaldo, Tomás Rincón and Zé Rafael have left the club and were removed from the Sudamericana list. Mayke, who rescinded his contract in court last Friday, still appears among the registered players.

Shirt numbers have also changed, with Gabriel Bontempo now wearing number eight, previously held by Rincón, and Nicola Profeta switching from 17 to 72. Caballero takes 17 and João Paulo will wear 34.
