Nianzou accepts drastic wage cut as Lille move eases Sevilla burden | OneFootball

Tanguy Nianzou has completed a move to LOSC Lille after agreeing a significant pay cut he had repeatedly refused at Sevilla, easing the Spanish club’s salary load.

L’Équipe reports that the defender will earn 1.4 million euros a year in Lille, almost eight times lower than the nine million euros he was on in Andalusia.

Zona Mixta previously reported that Sevilla’s recruitment chiefs tried several times to renegotiate his deal down, proposals that were consistently turned away by the player’s camp until the Ligue 1 switch was sealed.

The exit provides immediate relief for Sevilla, described as operating with the tightest budget limit in Primera División, and should allow the registration of Rubén Vargas and several other summer arrivals.

Attention now turns to accelerating departures for Joan Jordán and Rafa Mir, whose wages sit well beyond the club’s current budget. Neither player features in the plans of head coach Luis García Plaza, and trimming their salaries is prioritised over chasing large transfer fees.

To bring in substantial income, Sevilla are fielding offers for assets including Vargas and academy products Oso, Juanlu Sánchez and Kike Salas, with valuations above 10 million euros. Proceeds from these deals, together with the money from Akor Adams’s sale, will define their scope to finish the remaining summer business.
