Nicolas Madsen has outlined his ambition to reach the Premier League with QPR.
QPR had a decent season under Julien Stephan, and there will be a belief that they can challenge for a top eight finish in the 2026/27 campaign with the right additions this summer.
The R’s have built a talented squad, and whilst they don’t have the biggest budget in the league, they have made some shrewd additions.
It’s fair to say that Nicolas Madsen falls into that category, with the midfielder emerging as a key figure for QPR this season.
QPR paid an initial £2m to sign Madsen in the summer of 2024 from Westerlo, and the former Heerenveen man had an inconsistent first season in English football, as he struggled to adapt to the speed and intensity of English football.
However, he has really kicked-on under Stephan, with Madsen having a fine individual campaign, as he impressed with his all-round game, as well as registering nine goal contributions from the middle of the park.

Such performances saw the Dane named as Player of the Year and the Players’ Player of the Year, which perfectly highlights the impact he has made.
Therefore, it’s perhaps no surprise that Madsen has been asked about his future in an interview with the Danish media. Yet, speaking to Bold, as quoted by Sport Witness, the player explained that he is focused on establishing himself as one of the best players in the Championship, with the ultimate aim of reaching the Premier League with QPR.
“I had a lot of goals before this season, which I have fulfilled, so now it is of course being adjusted. My ambition is to help make the team more competitive. On behalf of the club, the ambition is clearly to get into the fun places in the top 8. We have a good team, so it is definitely possible.
“My next goal is to become one of the best in the league, and I don’t think that’s unrealistic. I don’t see why it shouldn’t be possible. I’ve never made a secret of the fact that I want to go as far as possible. The big dream is still the Premier League, and I hope that it can be fulfilled with QPR.”
Firstly, the fans will love these comments from Madsen, as he has been excellent this season, so it wouldn’t have been a major shock if clubs were tracking him ahead of the summer window.
Of course, we know that money talks, but Madsen’s message here proves he is very happy at QPR, and he is already looking ahead to next season, where he will hope to make a big impact once again.

Now, the challenge for the Londoners is to find more players like Madsen in the summer to help fulfil his, and their, ambitions of reaching the Premier League.
The extra two play-off places will make next season very interesting, and it’s clubs like QPR who could be the big beneficiaries from the new format.
So, a big summer awaits for QPR, and whilst they may have to wheel and deal, a productive transfer window would ensure they head into next season with real optimism.
