Nikolas Veratschnig leaves Mainz for RB Salzburg

RB Salzburg have signed Nikolas Veratschnig from Mainz, with the 23-year-old returning to Austrian football after two years.

The former Wofsberger AC player departs Mainz 05 to join Salzburg. According to BuLi News, the move ends his spell in Germany.

Mainz sporting director Niko Bungert said Veratschnig settled well on and off the pitch and often showed his potential, but he did not receive the consistent minutes he had hoped for to aid his development.

Bungert added that the club accepted the player’s wish to leave, noting the transfer is also financially appropriate for Mainz, and he thanked Veratschnig for his commitment and wished him well.

Veratschnig made 45 appearances for Mainz, recording one assist.
