Nkanyiso Zungu speaks about John Maduka with great gratitude!
In a move that feels more like a destiny than a simple transfer, midfielder Nkanyiso Zungu has found a crucial lifeline for his career at Magesi FC, a chance he attributes directly to the faith of coach John Maduka.
The 29-year-old, who previously featured for Orlando Pirates, was a key acquisition for the Limpopo club during the recent transfer window as they sought to reinforce their midfield for the 2025/26 season. His journey with his new team began on the pitch of a packed Seshego Stadium a month ago, making his debut as a second-half substitute in a hard-fought 2-0 loss against the formidable Mamelodi Sundowns.
For Zungu, this opportunity is about more than just football; it's about a guiding relationship. He holds Maduka in the highest esteem, viewing him not just as a tactician but as a mentor who truly believes in him. “You know, coach Maduka is like a father figure to me," Zungu told FARPost. "He is a good human being and looks after us, so it feels nice to work under his leadership. He has taught me a lot so far, and that makes me feel happy under his guidance because he brings out the best in me. I’m thankful to him for giving me another chance to play in the Premier League.”
This gratitude is the fuel for his renewed ambition. The sheer joy of returning to the Betway Premiership is coupled with a determined resolve to cement his place. “I feel happy once again. You know, anyone would feel excited to be playing in the top flight again," he expressed. "It’s been a while, and I’m grateful for the opportunity I have been granted by the team’s chairman, coach, and everyone at Magesi for giving me a second chance."
His focus is razor-sharp, driven by the memory of his past journey. “I know why I’m here. So, if you know where you come from, then you wouldn’t want to go back there. I have been working hard at training and putting in extra effort. I don’t want to go back, and that’s why I’m here—to achieve what I want to achieve and help the team to reach greater heights.”
