Leeds United will lock horns with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this Wednesday night as they look to secure a win on the road in the third round of the EFL Cup. The Whites managed to earn a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Brighton and Hove Albion recently, which should keep them in good spirits going into this game.

Daniel Farke will opt for the 3-4-2-1 formation and is expected to make some tweaks to his starting XI for this clash. Lukas Nmecha could get a chance to spearhead Leeds’ attack up top.

3-4-2-1 Leeds United Predicted Lineup To Face Chelsea

Defence

James Trafford will operate in goal for the Whites after conceding one goal in his last appearance. Farke could name a back three of Nico Elvedi, Jaka Bijol and Tarik Muharemovic as they focus on keeping things solid on the defensive end of the pitch.

Melvin Bard will offer cover for the defensive positions on the bench.

Midfield

Sean Longstaff and Ao Tanaka will anchor the midfield for the West Yorkshire club as they hope to make life tough for the opposition at the centre of the park and make some good passes to their teammates in the final third.

James Justin will try to prove his worth as the left-sided wide player, while Jayden Bogle hopes to catch the eye on the other side as the right wing-back. Both of them will have to perform their defensive duties well before trying to make some overlapping runs out in the wide positions.

Brenden Aaronson and Harry Wilson will operate as Farke’s attacking midfielders as they look to lead the Leeds press inside the Chelsea half and engineer some decent chances on the counter.

Ethan Ampadu, Anton Stach and Gabriel Gudmundsson will be named on the bench and might come on to make an impact in the second 45 minutes if required.

Attack

Lukas Nmecha will lead the charge for Leeds United up top. He has to figure out a way to be a real menace in and around the Chelsea penalty area.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin will be rested on the bench as he waits for his chance to influence the game in the final quarter if the Whites need a goal.
