Seven players are set to miss Wednesday’s Carabao Cup third-round tie between Chelsea and Leeds United at Stamford Bridge. According to Leeds Live, three are out for Leeds and four for Chelsea.

Leeds will be without defender Joe Rodon, plus longer-term casualties Mateo Joseph and Ilia Gruev. Daniel Farke said the league remains the priority but he still wants to win this tie, and he may rotate.

Daniel James is a minor doubt after back and hamstring issues in the Brighton warm-up, though scans were positive. Farke is cautiously optimistic he will be available if he completes final sessions.

For Chelsea, Xabi Alonso said Moises Caicedo and Marco Palestra are not ready to return. Jordan Henderson is sidelined by a wrist injury and Emmanuel Emegha by a pre-season hamstring issue.

Levi Colwill is available after a knock in the weekend defeat to Arsenal. Alonso said Caicedo could potentially feature against Hull City in the league later this week.

Leeds arrive after a 1-1 draw with Brighton, where Jayden Bogle scored in the 15th minute before Luka Vuskovic levelled in the 71st. They reached round three by beating Nottingham Forest 2-0 last month.
