The past year has been anything but easy for Real Madrid star Rodrygo Goes, who has experienced a major dip in form and has been unable to bounce back.
The 24-year-old attacker ended the last season under Carlo Ancelotti on a disappointing note and was heavily linked with an exit in the summer, but opted to stay and fight for his place in Xabi Alonso’s plans.
Things, though, have not worked out for the Brazilian international.
Rodrygo has reached a statistic at Real Madrid that no player wants in his career. After the match against Girona, he is now the forward who has spent the most minutes and matches without scoring a single goal for the club.
The Brazilian has gone 30 official matches without a goal across all competitions, having accumulated exactly 1,339 minutes in this run.
Rodrygo’s last goal for Real Madrid came on 4 March against Atletico Madrid in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16. As for La Liga, the attacker has not found the back of the net since 19 January against Las Palmas.
Rodrygo now shares the record with former Real Madrid forward Mariano Diaz as the player with the worst goal drought in the club’s history – 30 games, although the latter had played far fewer minutes (986).
The next on the list is Rafa Maranon, who went 29 matches and 1,426 minutes without scoring back in 1970.
If Rodrygo goes another match without scoring, he will go past Mariano and become the forward with the worst goal drought of all time at Real Madrid.
