Lyon supporters are barred from travelling to Marseille for OM v OL at the Vélodrome, with authorities prohibiting movement of anyone identifying as a Lyon fan between the Rhône department and Marseille on Sunday one March 2026, for the whole day.

According to Le Progres, the Interior Ministry has formalised the ban by order, covering individual and group travel by any means.

That follows a first order from the Bouches-du-Rhône prefect on nine February, which barred Lyon fans from accessing the Vélodrome or circulating in central Marseille and around the ground on matchday.

Officials note that OL away trips have frequently led to public order problems because of violent behaviour by some supporters, with incidents in 2025 and 2026 at Brest, Bourgoin-Jallieu, Nice, Saint-Etienne, Lens, Utrecht, Auxerre, Nantes, Berne and Metz.

Relations between OM and OL supporters are marked by long-standing hostility. The most serious flashpoint came on 29 October 2023, when buses carrying fans and the team were attacked, injuring seven people including the coach Fabio Grosso.
