No more negotiations! Bayern increase pressure on Upamecano

Dayot Upamecano’s contract extension is increasingly becoming a test of patience for FC Bayern. Although the Frenchman has long since signed a new contract, a decision is still a long time coming – much to the displeasure of those in charge at Säbener Straße

„We’re waiting.“ Max Eberl didn’t want to say much more when asked about the 27-year-old centre-back’s future. Two words that reveal a lot between the lines, however, as it is clear internally that Bayern have long since laid their cards on the table. A mega offer has been made, but Upamecano is still hesitating to sign

A new 4/5-year contract with an annual salary and hand money of 20 million euros each is on the table. The French international is also set to receive an exit clause

Bayern no longer see any room for negotiation

According to information from the Abendzeitung München, there is still a need for discussion on the player’s side regarding the specific term of the contract. The structure of the release clause is also said not to meet the expectations of those close to Upamecano. While FC Bayern want planning security, the other side is apparently trying to secure maximum flexibility for the coming years

From Munich’s point of view, however, a limit has been reached. As reported by Sky, there is no longer any willingness to improve the current offer – neither financially nor in terms of content. Sky reporter Florian Plettenberg was particularly clear: „Bayern will not add anything. This is the final offer. Now it’s extend or leave the club.“

Delay becomes a problem for squad planning

Even without an official deadline, the pressure on Upamecano is growing noticeably. Bayern want clarity as soon as possible so that they can press ahead with their squad planning for next summer. As long as the defender does not make a decision, Munich’s hands are effectively tied on the transfer market

If the Frenchman were to leave on a free transfer, this would create an enormous hole in the center of defence – both in sporting and strategic terms. In this case, the German record champions would have to react and sign a top-class replacement, which would not only be expensive but also risky

The message from Munich is therefore unmistakable: the offer has been made, patience is waning and the ball is now in Dayot Upamecano’s court.
