Leeds United turned away several approaches for Noah Okafor before the window closed, according to Fabrizio Romano.
A £35m bid remained on the table on deadline day. The report adds that Leeds view the Swiss international as a key player and that the 26-year-old wanted to stay at Elland Road.
Leeds have also brought in competition, with Jean-Mattéo Bahoya joining from Eintracht Frankfurt on loan with an option to buy.
Okafor has started two of the three games this season in a central role, rather than the flank where he impressed last term.
He has made 36 appearances under Daniel Farke, scoring eight and assisting three, despite a couple of knocks last season.
The forward arrived from AC Milan last summer and has three years left on his contract.
