North Gate Bordeaux issued a statement on Thursday after the DNCG appeal commission confirmed on Wednesday the Girondins’ exclusion from the national leagues, calling it a possible fresh start despite the severity.

According to Sud Ouest, a morning meeting brought executives, staff and players together as uncertainty mounted.

No longer officially recognised by the club, the group said it had warned since its creation about Gérard Lopez’s catastrophic management. It asked who could truly be surprised by the DNCG ruling.

It said it alone kept open opposition to the Aquitaine-based owner, a jab at the Ultramarines.

It also said it never believed the talks with British fund Sparta, viewing them as PR rather than a real sporting project. In its view, discussions centred on property assets and lacked a clear first-team plan.

Despite the threat of judicial liquidation and a possible drop to Régional 1, the group called this a turning point. It urged a rebuild based on humility and honesty, uniting the Marine et Blanc and, in its view, moving on without Lopez.

Preparations are already hit, with Saturday’s friendly against Tarbes, promoted to National, formerly N2, cancelled. The squad could be released in the coming days if no buyer arrives.
