Northampton Town have signed striker Nathan Opoku from Leicester City for an undisclosed fee. The 25-year-old Ghanaian has agreed a three-year deal at Sixfields.

Cobblers head coach Chris Hogg, speaking to the club website, said Opoku has taken a different path that has given him broad experience and that he is at a good age. He added that Northampton have tracked him closely, believe he knows League Two and has scored at this level, and value his work rate, attitude, character and ability.

Opoku joined Leicester from Syracuse University in the United States in 2023.

He was immediately loaned to the Foxes' Belgian sister club OH Leuven, where he scored five times.

Last season he spent time on loan at Newport County, scoring six in 30 League Two appearances and finishing as the Exiles' top scorer.
